About

My name is Randa James Noel. I was born on the Spice Island of Grenada but lived on the island of Carriacou, the daughter of a sailor, Garnet Welcome Joseph, and a home-maker, Veronica Zita James. I began singing gospel at a very young age and loved the feel of it. I was always told that my voice was beautiful, but I was too shy to be a lead vocalist, so I did most of my early singing as a background vocalist.

This shyness was short-lived, thank God. As I entered my teens and adult years, lead singing had become my pride and joy. My high school gave me countless opportunities to perform, and with such exposure came other opportunities to showcase my talent throughout my island. Some of these were my championship wins at singing talent shows. In fact, I can remember performing in three Song Festivals, and I was privileged to win them all. I found it inspiring that one can be in the spotlight and still maintain a sense of decency and wholesomeness. This is owed to my gospel roots.

My fan base has grown exponentially, and I can feel the love and support of my island behind me. I presently reside in the Sunshine State of Orlando, Florida.

My Journey

A. From 1997 to 1998: I traveled back to Grenada to record a few of my songs. My country was booming with new artists, and keeping myself apart and different in my artistry became a priority.

With the support of friends and teachers, I embarked on my first album. The lack of funds made it extremely difficult to complete it in a timely manner, but I was extremely happy to have a few songs to my name. Kim The King's Radio Station gave me the airtime I desperately needed, and this allowed my islanders a chance to listen to my music. Fans began requesting their favorite songs, the response was quite favorable, and my writing ability took flight.

B. 2000: I recorded another album in England, and that was a success.

C. 2004: My biggest success came when I moved to the USA. There I was given the privilege of being lead singer of a band called 2nd Generation. We played at many sold-out venues throughout Brooklyn and New Jersey. These ranged from private parties and local clubs to large-scale events, including participating in New Jersey's Carnival Festival. These were not only dreams of mine but goals I was determined to achieve.

D. 2007: I achieved another huge accomplishment when I released my first American-based album, "The Beginning". It was recorded by Autery Weekes (Ragan), a very dear friend and islander who now resides in the U.S. He never gave up on me and pushed me to the extreme as I do what I love. Thank you, Ragan.

Music

My music spans gospel, pop, soca, and reggae, all built on my gospel roots. I have been inspired by great artists such as Whitney Houston, God rest her soul, Celine Dion, and Mariah Carey. My goal is to be internationally recognized. The sky is my limit.
